PCF and Child Safety Standards
22 May 2017 by Trevor Coughlin
To provide some clarity around club obligations with regards to Victorian Child Safety Standards and the requirement for coaches, team managers and committee members to hold both a Working with Children (WWC) Check and sign the Basketball Victoria Member Statutory Declaration, articles titled Information about Working with Children Checks and Advice from Basketball Victoria have been posted to the TeamApp Documents section. Please ensure you read them.
Child safety is not an add-on or one-off exercise. Our club, the Point Cook Flyers, your club, has a legal obligation to be compliant with applicable requirements to create a culture and environment that is supportive and protective of children.
For those of you who have submitted your Member Statutory Declaration as requested, thank you. If you are yet to complete a declaration, the requirement is not negotiable and you are required to submit one to the club immediately. Unfortunately, failure of coaches and/or team managers to complete a declaration may result in teams being unable to take the court until such time as they are completed. Declarations can be submitted directly to our Secretary, Kelly Howroyd, or lodged in the PCF pigeon hole at the stadium.
If you need to further discuss the reasons behind your non-compliance, and the information provided in the articles does not answer your questions, please contact me via the club’s email address:
pointcookflyers@gmail.com.
Thank you.
Trevor Coughlin
President, Point Cook Flyers
